The art scene is full of activity. Trinidad and Tobago has two writers who have won the Nobel Prize, Vidiadhar Surajprasad Naipaul and Derek Walcott, born in St. Lucia. Designer Peter Minshall is renowned not only for his Carnival costumes, but also for his role in the opening ceremonies of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, the World Cup 1994, the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and the Winter Olympics Games 2002.
